About Our Team

The campaign to “Save Carss Park Pool” was initiated in mid-2018 by a dedicated group of swimmers, gym members and local residents who have used, and still use and love the Kogarah War Memorial Olympic Pool and Gym at Carss Park since its construction in 1965.  We call ourselves the “Carss Park Swim and Gym Team”.

Some of us are members of the North Ramsgate Amateur Swimming Club, which holds friendly swimming competition meets for adults and children on Sunday mornings.

Other members of our campaign team hail from the Water Dragons, the official swimming club of the St George Leagues Club which began in 1964.

Further team members have come on board to offer their experience from their successful battle to Build Bexley Pool.

The original team began with a few recreational swimmers who wrote letters to the local St George and Sutherland Shire Leader newspaper as soon as they heard about the threat to their beloved pool.

Many of us, in our childhood, have learnt to swim, or attended swimming carnivals or school sport and physical education, or earned life-saving medallions, or trained in squads such as Carss Park Swim Club,  and consequently remember the pool fondly.

We have contact with and are supported by many of the Olympic and competition swimmers who trained with Dick Caine in the pool’s heyday, as well as representatives of various swimming and water safety organisations.

If you’d like to contact us, please email save.carss.park.pool@gmail.com
or use the form on our Contact Us page.

If you would like to join the campaign team to ensure Carss Park Pool’s future, you can apply to be considered for a volunteer role here.
